Unlock your Potential with High Performance Computing

The Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) will soon be launching a state-of-the-art High-Performance Computer (HPC), opening up new possibilities for the local tech ecosystem. This infrastructure is designed to serve as a catalyst for startups, SMEs, and researchers, enabling them to test, scale, and accelerate their projects with cutting-edge computing power.

In this session, you will discover how the HPC can be applied across industries—from AI and data analytics to scientific research and product development. Beyond the technology itself, the focus will be on the real-world opportunities it creates: faster time to market, cost-effective experimentation, and the ability to compete globally.

Attendees will walk away with a clear understanding of the types of projects HPC will support, and practical examples of how it will be possible to harness this national resource to unlock new research and economic potential.

About Adam ...

Prof. Adam Gauci is a Data Scientist with the Oceanography Malta Research Group (OMRG) at the University of Malta’s Department of Geosciences. He has been instrumental in developing Malta’s advanced meteo-marine observing systems, including the country’s first HF radar network for real-time sea current monitoring, sea-level stations, wave buoys, and weather stations that support maritime safety.

Adam has led the deployment of Malta’s first fixed ocean sensing platform, situated 2.1 nautical miles off the Grand Harbour. Holding a Ph.D. in Intelligent Computer Systems, his research applies machine learning to high-dimensional datasets. Alongside lecturing in earth observation, AI, and signal processing, he coordinates several EU-funded projects enhancing oceanographic and atmospheric monitoring across the region.
