Beyond the SIEM: How Cybersecurity Techniques Power Business Insights and Innovation
In this presentation, we will explore the often-untapped potential of cybersecurity practices outside of their traditional security domain.
The talk will delve into the intersection of cybersecurity with other critical business disciplines such as big data, marketing, fraud detection, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), machine learning, and more. We will discuss how many techniques, methods, and tools commonly used in cybersecurity – like DTA pipelines, advanced analytics, anomaly detection, and data correlation – are directly applicable and valuable in these diverse domains.
A central theme will be demonstrating how working closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) team or cybersecurity analysts can provide unique and powerful insights into how a business or environment actually functions and can lead to improved growth. While primarily focused on security tasks, the data, analysis and dashboards generated by cybersecurity teams can offer a profound understanding of user behavior, system interactions, data flows, and potential inefficiencies or opportunities within both the marker and the organization.
The aim is to shift the common perception of cybersecurity from being merely a "burden" or "security tax" to recognizing it as a significant business enabler. By leveraging cybersecurity expertise and data, companies can not only enhance their security posture but also gain competitive advantages, improve operational efficiency, and identify new business opportunities.
